The Cuban archipelago is located in the westernmost part of the insular Caribbean. It groups the island of Cuba, that of Youth and more than 4 thousand islets and keys. The emerged territory is about 111 thousand km2. It has more than six thousand kilometers of coastline, with more than 600 beaches.

In the relief complex and varied areas of mountains and hills stand out (they occupy a quarter of the surface) but the plains predominate, which occupy most of the Cuban territory.

The main mountain ranges are: the Guamuhaya or Sierra del Escambray massif, the Guaniguanico Mountain Range and the Sierra Maestra; This, located in the southeast of the country, is the highest, largest and most extensive, and in it is the Sierra de Turquino that reaches its maximum elevation in the Pico Real del Turquino (1 974 meters above sea level), the highest in Cuba.

Most of the island′s soil is relatively fertile and one of the most extraordinary natural elements of Destination Cuba is the large number of caves formed in limestone rocks, among which the Cotilla caves stand out, located near Havana , and those of Trinidad.

In Cuba the presence of natural and artificial reservoirs is notable. It has a fluvial network with short rivers and generally with little flow and short length; the main ones are: Cauto, Zaza and Sagua la Grande.

The Island has excellent and abundant natural ports; the most notable are those of Havana, Cárdenas, Matanzas and Nuevitas on the north coast, and Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba and Cienfuegos on the south coast.

The time zone of the Republic of Cuba is GMT - 5, so it shares a time zone with Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru; Mexico central time (summer time), among other countries.
